Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (IATA: ASE, ICAO: KASE, FAA LID: ASE), also known as Sardy Field, is a county-owned public-use airport located three nautical miles (6km) northwest of the central business district of Aspen, in Pitkin County, Colorado, United States. With mountains to the north and east, Mexican airspace to the south and strong tailwinds blowing in from the west, pilots better watch out. Luckily, the plane was stopped by the Engineered Materials Arrestor System at the end of the runway before it plunged over a cliff.
